A lot of people already knew, liked and had some respect for Dale when he first came into the sport. Even if/when Dale did wrong on the track, most people would forgive him because he kept a good rapport with people in the garage area. Also, Dale did not being the guy wearing the "black hat". As long as people were making noise in the stands, he was okay. Everything I've seen from Kyle Busch makes me believe that he desperately wants to be loved by fans, which is probably why he tries to overcompensate by racing in all three NASCAR series. Sorry, but when you act like a dick on tv most times, fans aren't going to like you. In short, Dale had personality and respect for and from others in the garage. Kyle Busch doesn't.
