You know what the main difference is? Dale was smart enough to dictate the media, not let the media dictate him.
Dale was either a smart ass or ignoring the media. Rarely did he play into their hands. Jr couldn't been more right in his comments on that, it's absolutey night and day between Dale and really, almost all other drivers including Kyle.
Jr is pretty damn close in that respect though, but it's not fair to compare Jr in the media to his dad, because not even Dale got the amount of attention that Jr has sustained over so long. Not that Jr is so popular or iconic to the sport, just the raw numbers of media present now versus then... it's taking it's toll on Jr. It's prolly harder off the track for Jr than it is on the track.
