My best bud has a car, she lives in Oakland too, and I can borrow hers if need be, and we usually hang out and wind up doing errands together. other than that use the buses and walk. I can walk 2 miles in my sleep.
Got a Trader Joe's about a mile and a half from my house, though the whole foods is about 3 miles away, and I can still walk that too.
I rented a car on July 4th weekend, drove down to Monterey, went to the aquarium, drove back up US 1. got stuck in traffic, but it was cool because we got to watch the sunset. Driving that curvy part in the dark was hella cool! A little scary with headlights beaming on sheer rock, but I kept her off the fence. wanted to do donuts after that part. it was awesome!
I told my Dad when he comes out for Monterey Jazz that we'd take 1 all the way down (or well most of the way, might hit 35 for that scenic part as well).
Not been to Santa Barbara. Been to Newport Beach. My friend and I may plan a road trip to LA.
