Dale and Rusty were racing for position in the race during a championship run where he and Rusty were competing for the cup. Also at this point Dale was behind Rusty in the points. The season was coming to a close and Dale was running out of time. He had to do what he had to do. Dale was also visibly upset over what happened.
Carl was over 100 laps down and wrecked Brad out of retaliation. He had tried to wreck him 2 or 3 time before the incident occured as the replays showed. There was nothing to gain... not points not a win and certainly not a championship. Carl didn't even seem that upset over the incident.
I have no problem with these guys getting after each other. Aggression has been part of this sport since its inception. I am not a fan of the 99 or 12. To be honest the 12 had something coming to him. You just don't do it at the sports fastest track 100+ laps down where retaliation was the only motive. It was stupid dangerous and reckless.
If Edwards had half a brain he would have waited until a future race to put him in his place.
Watch the video from the link I posted then think about it.
As a closing note, in the future, please refrain from insulting the legacy of the greatest driver in history by comparing his actions to someone like Carl Edwards.
